X-Men: Apocalypse is a 2016 American superhero film directed and produced by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg from a story by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris. The film is based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics and is the ninth installment in the X-Men film series.

The film was announced by Singer in December 2013, with Kinberg, Dougherty, and Harris attached to develop the story. Casting began in October 2014, while principal photography commenced in April 2015 in Montreal and ended in August of the same year.
X-Men: Apocalypse premiered in London on May 9, 2016, and was released in the United States on May 27, 2016 in 3D and 2D, and in IMAX 3D in select international markets. The film received mixed reviews, with critics praising its themes and acting performances, while criticizing its overloaded action and the portrayal of Apocalypse. A sequel, titled Dark Phoenix, was released on June 7, 2019
In 3600 B.C., the powerful mutant En Sabah Nur rules ancient Egypt until he is entombed alive. Awakening in 1983, he believes humanity has lost its way. Aiming to destroy and remake the world, he recruits Ororo Munroe and upgrades her power.
In East Berlin, shape-shifting mutant Raven discovers Kurt Wagner, a mutant who can teleport. Raven requests black marketeer Caliban to transport Kurt to America. En Sabah Nur recruits Psylocke and Angel and enhances both of their powers.
Alex Summers takes his brother Scott to Professor Charles Xavier’s educational institute, hoping that Xavier and Hank McCoy will teach him to control his mutation for shooting optic beams. Scott meets the Level 5 telepathic and telekinetic Jean Grey, and the two develop an attraction. En Sabah Nur’s powers cause disturbances around the world, leading Xavier and Alex to consult with CIA operative Moira MacTaggert, who has been researching the legend of Nur.
The gap between international and American basketball might be closing, but the gap between Kevin Durant and every other scorer, if not player, in the world right now is as big as ever. Durant, who is arguably the greatest Olympic player in United States history, led Team USA past France, 87-82, on Friday with 29 points as the Americans secured their fourth straight gold medal.
Yet again, the U.S. started slowly. It couldn’t hit any 3s in the early going, and France looked comfortable getting buckets. But Durant didn’t mess around for long. Throwing that whole “let the game come to you” adage out the window, he started cooking when Team USA couldn’t find a bucket elsewhere. Through three quarters, he couldn’t be stopped. By the time France started icing him out in the fourth, it was a little too late.
“We tried to make him work as hard as we can, but he’s Kevin Durant,” France center Rudy Gobert said. “He’s going to hit shots that only him, in the world, can hit. … I think he’s the best scorer in basketball. He’s going to do what he does, especially on the biggest stage.”
Dating back to 2012, Durant, who joins Carmelo Anthony as the only U.S. players with three Olympic gold medals, has scored 30, 30 and 29 points in those three gold-medal games. His name will be, and should be, at the top of every story about this team.
